The design of our products allow them to be an effective and long term method of heel spur treatment. Integrated into each of our products is unique technology which applies acupressure to the fascia ligament to help reduce heel pain. In addition, they physically re-stretch the plantar fascia, enabling it to become stronger and more flexible, thereby resisting further injury. They move easily with the movements of your feet, while also being strong and durable. Because its durability is assured, they also come with a life time guarantee so you don’t have to worry about wear and damage.
Heel spur treatment in most cases is similar to that of plantar fasciitis. Heel spur treatment is approached in a similar way due to the similar symptoms as well as the similar causes of the conditions. In addition, those who are suffering from one condition often develop the other condition as well. A heel spur is a bony fragment that extends forward from the heel bone towards the toes, digging into tissue in the heel with each movement. Luckily most cases require only conservative treatment methods to resolve the discomfort of this condition, but each have their own unique characteristics which make it is important to know what type treatment is necessary before committing to a costly or ineffective alternative.
The first step in heel spur treatment is rest. It’s important to refrain from any stressful activity that may have brought on the condition. Heel spurs are generally formed when great stress forces the plantar fascia ligament to pull away from the heel bone (calcaneous). Because great pressure and strain is usually the key factor in the development of heel spurs, it is recommended that exercise and other physical activities be limited until the condition has improved.
There are many other simple heel spur treatment methods that can ease some symptoms of this condition. One such method is icing. Although icing is not a long term relief method, it can be useful in reducing symptoms of heel pain. Stretches can also be an easy, conservative way to alleviate some of the symptoms of heel spurs. Stretches are intended to both strengthen the tissue around the heel spur, while also increasing the flexibility of the area, particularly the plantar fascia ligament, helping to also prevent reoccurrences of heel spurs. Anti-inflammatory medications are also available which are helpful in reducing pain and decreasing any inflammation that may be present.
A night splint is a heel spur treatment method intended to reduce the symptoms of heel spurs and treat the condition. These devices are worn through the night when you are asleep. While off your feet, they go to work stretching the plantar fascia, helping to reduce pain and keeping pain from being present in the morning. Unfortunately, this treatment method is not the most effective method in reducing symptoms. These devices are usually cumbersome boots that are uncomfortable and some find them difficult to sleep in. Also, the rate of success that these products have is also questionable. On top of these considerations, night splints also are expensive, usually ranging between $60 and $80. Although night splints prove successful in some cases, the cost and cumbersome nature of these products make it an unattractive treatment option for many heel spur sufferers.
Another popular and conservative heel spurs treatment option is applying orthotic shoe inserts. These simple devices are placed in your shoes and work to relieve the pain and symptoms of heel spurs by adding additional support around the heel and mid-foot to limit the amount of strain on the plantar fascia. Unlike night splints, which only help to treat the condition during the night when pain is at its lowest, orthotics can be used to treat pain throughout the day when you are on your feet, when you need them the most. Also, when compared with costly night splints, the price of orthotics is more conservative as well.
In some cases, conservative heel spur treatment is not enough. Surgery is sometimes considered for treatment when other methods have proven to be ineffective. Unfortunately, as with any surgery there are risks involved and complications can occur. In addition, the results of surgical procedures vary and recovery time is usually required. Fortunately, surgical treatment is rarely considered for most cases of heel spurs. If patients continue to suffer from pain after conservative methods have failed, cortisone injections may be recommended. Extracorporeal shock wave therapy (ESWT) is also considered before surgery and is thought to stimulate tissue repair through pulses of energy around the heel spur, but the effectiveness of this option is still being researched.
There are many heel spur treatment options available. Conservative treatment methods are usually the most effective, and the easiest, to fight the discomfort of heel spurs and related heel pain conditions. Although many treatment methods have their effective attributes as well as their limitations, our proven products continue to provide many heel spur sufferers with the effective, long term relief from pain that they are looking for.
