Massage for Heel PainIf you suffer from any kind of pain, one of the natural responses is to massage the area. In most cases, this can actually be an effective remedy. Unfortunately, you cannot always reach all of the areas on your body where you feel pain. This makes self-massaging complicated. Luckily, those that suffer from heel pain can easily massage their feet to relieve symptoms.
A Quick RemedyWhile massaging the bottom of your foot is not a treatment option for your heel pain, it will allow you to quickly relieve pain you are experiencing in the short-term. And it is often more effective than simply resting the feet. In addition, a massage can be performed at anytime of day. Therefore, you can massage your feet before you go on a run, after you get done, when you are watching tv, when you wake up in the morning, and any other time of the day that you might need relief.
Stretching The Plantar FasciaThe best way to relief heel pain is to massage and stretch the plantar fascia. Here are some steps to follow to help you stretch your plantar fascia. To perform this stretch, sit in a chair or at the edge of your bed. Then place your hand over your toes or the ball of your foot. Keep your leg steady and pull your foot towards you so the bottom of your foot is stretched. Hold this position for approximately 30 to 60 seconds. Repeat this stretch 5 times.
If you don't find that those stretches work to massage the foot and relieve heel pain, you can try alternative stretches. You can sit and place you foot on the opposite knee. Then, try stretching the foot in a similar manner. Also, you can always try looping a towel around the ball of your foot and then stretching.
